If there is one word I could use to describe my short time in the Free North, it would be ‘blessing’. It was a blessing to spend my 6 weeks with you here. It was a blessing to meet such a warm congregation. It was a blessing to be able to preach in your pulpit and a blessing to feel such freedom when doing so. It was a blessing to learn from Colin and Jessie all about what the ministry looks like and to be taken under their hard-working wings. It was a blessing to work in Madras Street with all the brilliant volunteers and workers there. It was a blessing to witness someone be saved by the Lord, we trust, at Road to Recovery. It was a blessing to visit some of you, and a blessing to know that I genuinely wished I could have visited more. What a blessing it was to me to have been put here on my placement, and I shall not forget it any time soon.
Thank you, everyone, for making the time so memorable and sweet for me. Thank you for constructive feedback on my sermons, I still have much to learn.
And I am extremely thankful to Colin, Jessie and the girls for hosting me, providing for me, and making my time in Inverness so ridiculously comfortable. Overall though, what a blessing from the Lord, and how thankful I am for His providence. It was a real joy to be with you.
Of course, I am preaching again here in 2 weeks time, funnily enough, but the report I send to the Board of Ministry will be a joyful one. I saw a growing and vibrant congregation, both here and in Madras Street, and I am so thankful I was able to enjoy it.
“May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.” (Ruth 2: 12)
Yours in Christ,
