October Ladies’ Meeting
Despite the inclement weather over 20 ladies turned out for the Blythswood evening where gift boxes were being prepared for men, women and teenage boys and girls. The ladies joined up in groups to fill the boxes for the various recipients and worked so efficiently that there was plenty of time for chat and refreshments as well. In evidence that all the time was not spent in socializing there was a stack of 55 completed boxes at the end of the evening and this, along with boxes already donated, meant that about 75 boxes were passed on to Blythswood for distribution. This really was a team effort with thanks due to those who contributed items for the boxes, those who set out the hall in preparation for the meeting and those who were able to come along on the night to organize and pack the boxes. It was also a joint venture with the Hobby Group who covered many of the boxes prior to the meeting and this was supplemented by those who covered the rest on the night. Socializing was enhanced by the provision of tea, coffee and treats. If anyone was not able to attend but still wishes to support the work they could place a monetary donation towards Blythswood’s transport costs in a clearly marked envelope in the collection box.
At the meeting a note of thanks from Joan Mackenzie, our September speaker, was read out in which she expressed her appreciation for the donation which had been given to her from that meeting. She assured us that it would be put to good use in her hospital and clinic work on her return.
Also advance notice was given of the November meeting which is not on a Tuesday but on Thursday 6th November and is a high tea at the Golf Club to which all ladies are warmly invited. Please look out for further information nearer the time. So too with the meeting on Tuesday 2nd December which sounds interesting and enjoyable.
